Christian's first Easter egg hunt

Christian had his first Easter egg hunt at the JFC Brunssum sport fields in the Netherlands. We started our day with an hour long scavenger hunt to find the place, and we were still early. That was largely due to the lure of a free pancake breakfast that started an hour and a half before the Easter egg hunt, and we got there just in time to enjoy some of the delicious pancakes and sausage.

On our way in Christian got to meet the big bunny himself - affectionately known as "Hop Hop" in our household. There were children's rides, a booth with different things to color and crafts to do, and a track with rocks to play with, and a big field inside the track to run and play in. The weather was gorgeous. For a good part of the afternoon we didn't even need jackets! It was wonderful!

Christian and I with Hop Hop. I thought after our Santa Clause incident that Christian would be scared, but he was really excited. He kept petting him and wanted to hold his hand. :)

Christian is intently listening to the rules and strategies of Easter egg hunting.

This picture is a little misleading, but shows the wealth of eggs available. Seconds later, by the time Christian had picked up one egg (granted he savored the experience), the place was swarmed with children and parents picking up eggs.

Here is the first egg. He shook it around and played with it a bit. When he opened it and found the candy inside he was really excited. Then he opened it and closed it a few more times before putting it in the basket to go find another egg. I'm not sure he fully understood the strategies section of our talk. :)

Egg number 2!

Fast forward to egg number 4 - the final egg in his collection.

Enjoying his spoils - a gummy fish. He also had 2 packages of gummy bears. The Reese's peanut butter cup he shared with his mama.

We were watching the other kids on the swings, but his mean parents didn't think he was old enough to participate yet. You can also see the swelling on my right eye. Just before the Easter egg hunt Christian accidentally head butted me. I don't think he even knew he did it, but my eye swelled immediately and turned black and purple.
